Activist Investor Slams ExxonMobil

SUGAR LAND, TEXAS--December 23, 2021--Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--When you're the Big Dog, you also are a Big Target. That's probably the feeling inside Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) (Irving, Texas), the largest U.S. oil & gas company. The company announced plans December 1 to invest $15 billion over 2022-2027 to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Less than a week later, it disclosed specific plans to achieve net-zero GHG emissions in the Permian Basin of West Texas and southeastern New Mexico by 2030. It appears that not all of that $15 billion in GHG-reduction spending will take place in the Permian Basin.
