KOFU, JAPAN--May 23, 2022--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In 2020, Hiroshi Kajiyama, the head of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), spoke of the need to phase out inefficient coal-fired power units. Now, METI is drawing up a road map.

In 2019, power generated by coal-fired units made up 31% of Japan's power supply. METI is working to reduce that level to 26% by 2030.
