June 27, 2022--Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Wyoming energy interests have some good news to report. The Cowboy State, beset with the closure of coal-fired power plants and coal mines, received federal and state authorization to begin construction of Energy Gateway South, a 416-mile, 500-kilovolt transmission project. It is part of a larger, region-wide Energy Gateway transmission expansion being developed by PacifiCorp (Portland, Oregon), a unit of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A) (Omaha, Nebraska).

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), a branch of the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), gave the Gateway South project a notice to proceed May 26. State utility regulators in Wyoming and Utah approved that project earlier this spring.
