JOHANNESBURG--March 21, 2013--Written by Richard Finlayson, Senior International Editor for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Apparent steel consumption in the region represented by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is estimated to have surged significantly by 7.6% to 56.4 million tons in 2012, according to a report from the South East Asian Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI). Apparent steel consumption consists of steel produced plus imports, but excluding exports.
