Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Canadian oil and gas producer ARC Resources Limited (Calgary, Alberta) ended 2024 on a high note, boasting the strongest quarterly output in its 29-year history. Last month, ARC started up a major drilling project in British Columbia's Montney Shale, which it expects to drive record company-wide condensate and natural gas production for full-year 2025. Industrial Info is tracking more than US$7 billion worth of active and proposed projects from ARC, about 75% of which is attributed to projects in British Columbia.

ARC's fourth-quarter 2024 production averaged 382,341 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOE/d), comprising 62% natural gas and 38% crude oil and natural gas liquid (NGL); altogether, this represents a 5% increase from fourth-quarter 2023. The company's condensate and light oil production during fourth-quarter 2024 averaged about 103,000 barrels per day (BBL/d), its highest-ever quarterly output and a 20% increase from the same period in 2023.

Executives at ARC are especially upbeat about the condensate outlook, as Canada presently imports most of the condensate it uses domestically. Much of the activity will come from its Attachie development near Fort Saint John, British Columbia, which started operations last month and is now producing more than 30,000 BOE/d, including about 15,000 BBL/d of condensate. Full-year production at Attachie is expected to average about 37,500 BOE/d, about 60% of which is attributed to condensate and NGL.

ARC expects to fully complete Phase I of its Attachie gas-processing and NGL-production complex in the second quarter, and it aims to drill 26 new wells in its full-year 2025 plan for the Attachie West natural gas and NGL field. The company also expects to finish construction in the coming months on a US$60 million natural gas and US$50 million NGL pipeline, each of which is designed to run 25 miles and to connect Attachie West with the local pipeline grid.

The Attachie natural gas pipeline will have an initial capacity of 90 million standard cubic feet per day, possibly to be expanded to 180 million in 2028, while the NGL pipeline will have an initial capacity of 15,000 BBL/d, to be expanded to at least 30,000 BBL/d. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Oil & Gas Project Database can read detailed reports on Attachie's Phase I complex, 2025 drilling plan, natural gas pipeline and NGL pipeline.

ARC noted that production curtailments at its Sunrise Natural Gas Processing Complex in Farmington, British Columbia, during the third and fourth quarters cut its full-year average production by roughly 10,500 BOE/d; however, Sunrise's production was restored in the fourth quarter as natural gas prices recovered. The curtailment allowed the company to defer some of the capital it had planned to spend at Sunrise this year, but it will proceed as planned with its 2025 field expansion and drilling program, which will involve adding eight new wells. Subscribers can learn more from a detailed project report.

Other Montney developments that have been the focus of ARC's drilling activity include the Dawson Creek natural gas field in Rolla, British Columbia, where the company completed 30 new wells in 2024. In the current year, ARC expects to perform an US$85 million expansion of Dawson Creek's 13-07 area and a US$65 million expansion of its 05-35 area, drilling seven new wells at each. Subscribers can read detailed project reports on 13-07 and 05-35.

ARC expects capital expenditures for full-year 2025 to total between C$1.6 billion and C$1.7 billion (US$1.12 billion and US$1.19 billion), with average annual production ranging from 380,000 to 395,000 BOE/d, comprising 61% natural gas and 39% crude oil and NGL.
