Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The situation is precarious for $2.86 billion worth of projects at automotive manufacturing plants in Germany. Hampered by bottlenecks in the semiconductor supply, Germany's automotive production fell 12.1% at the start of this year, according to the nation's Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy. New car sales in Germany posted the worst first-quarter performance since national reunification in 1990 due to the impact of COVID-19, according to the VDIK car importers' federation. However, the situation is improving as new car sells are up over the last three months in Europe. Improvement is expected to continue as supply chains are secured, vaccination rates increase and demand resumes.

Industrial Info is tracking 26 automotive projects in Germany, worth $2.86 billion, that are planned to kick off construction during the next 12 months.
