After a protracted process to finalize an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract among international bidders, Basrah Oil Company (BOC) awarded its mega Common Sea Supply Project (CSSP), worth $2.45 billion, to Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company. CSSP is meant to supply water to the Gharraf, Halfaya, Artawi, Nahr Bin Umar, Tub and Nassiriyah production fields for enhanced oil recovery (EOR). CSSP is a small part of the larger Southern Iraq Integrated Project (SIIP). Other segments of the project are still under consideration by China's CNPC, the U.S.' Exxon Mobil Corporation and Iraq's BOC.
