Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Boardwalk Pipeline Partners LP (Houston, Texas), a subsidiary of Loews Corporation (NYSE:L) (New York, New York) that primarily transports and stores natural gas and natural gas liquid (NGL), is signing up more customers and reaping the profits, as revenues from transportation contracts bolstered its business over the summer. The company is at work on midstream projects connected to some of the busiest shale plays and high-profile energy projects along the U.S. Gulf Coast. Industrial Info is tracking more than $1 billion in active projects from Boardwalk, nearly 90% of which can be found in Texas.

Loews reported earlier this month that Boardwalk's revenues totaled $327 million, up 14.7% from second-quarter 2018, largely due to growth projects recently placed in service. Loews became the full owner of Boardwalk during the second quarter, after owning 51% beforehand.

Among the projects completed in the past year is the Coastal Bend Header Pipeline, which supplies natural gas to ConocoPhillips' (NYSE:COP) (Houston) Freeport LNG liquefaction terminal on the Texas Gulf Coast. Boardwalk also is among the many midstream companies answering the calls for more takeaway capacity in the Permian Basin with its estimated $600 million P2K Pipeline, which will carry 2 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas about 385 miles from the Permian's Waha Hub to Katy, near Houston.

The P2K Pipeline will feed into the Coastal Bend Header line and will be serviced by four compressor stations, each estimated at $75 million, near Fort Stockton, Ozona, Junction and Lockhart. Gulf South Pipeline Company LP, a subsidiary of Boardwalk, signed 20-year firm precedent agreements with the planned Freeport LNG liquefaction terminal to serve its first two trains. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the pipeline and stations near Fort Stockton, Ozona, Junction and Lockhart.

Boardwalk is preparing to kick off construction on another key project in the Lone Star State: the Willis Lateral Project, which will transport about 200 million cubic feet per day of natural gas about 19 miles from Montgomery County to San Jacinto County, in order to meet growing demand in Southeast Texas. The $26 million pipeline lateral will be supported by a $35 million compressor station in Goodrich, with both set to wrap up next summer. For more information, see Industrial Info's reports on the pipeline and compressor station.

Another project, the proposed Index 99 Expansion, will complement the growing natural gas production in the Haynesville and Bossier shale plays of East Texas with new transportation outlets. The estimated $35 million pipeline will run 22 miles in and around San Augustine and Sabine counties, which border Louisiana, to the Magasco Natural Gas Compressor Station in Pineland, Texas. The Index 99 Expansion includes the estimated $35 million pipeline and modifications to the Summit Hall Compressor Station in Ringgold, Louisiana, and the Magasco station. All phases of the project are in their permitting phases. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the pipeline and Summit Hall and Magasco modifications.

Louisiana is one of the busiest states for energy development, and Boardwalk is at work on a midstream system that will accommodate one of the highest-profile projects in the Pelican State: the Westlake Expansion Project, which will carry up to 200 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas from Calcasieu Parish to Entergy Corporation's (NYSE:ETR) (New Orleans, Louisiana) Lake Charles Power Plant, which is under construction in Westlake. Components under construction include the $12 million pipeline and $8 million compressor station near Westlake.

For more information on Entergy's Westlake project, see August 20, 2019, article - Entergy Expands Footprint in Texas, Louisiana. For details on Boardwalk's Westlake Expansion Project, see Industrial Info's project reports on the pipeline and compressor station.
