Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--China produced 1.07 billion tonnes of cement during the first six months of 2015, a drop of 5.8% from the same period last year, according to the country's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

The regions of Shanghai, Shanxi and Liaoning saw cement production drop by 33.66%, 24.11% and 23.03%, respectively. However, output in Tibet, Chongqing and Fujiang rose 44.18%, 6.87% and 4.58%, respectively.

Regarding clinker output, Tibet, Chongqing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Hunan, Fujian and Guangxi showed gains, while other provinces saw reductions.

China's production of commercial concrete reached 731.4 million cubic meters during the first six months of 2015, an increase of 4% over the same six months in 2014. However, the rate of growth in commercial concrete production was 10.2 percentage points lower than the same period of last year.

Output of other building materials also fell during the second half of the year. Production of flat glasses fell 4.2% to 397.78 million weight boxes. This compares with an increase of 4.7% for the first six months of 2014.

China's cement exports totaled 4.51 million tonnes in the first half of 2015, a drop of 4.05% from the first six months of 2014. However, clinker exports reached 2.8 million tonnes, an increase of 47.44% Cement imports fell 53.67% to 54,400 tonnes. Clinker imports fell 88.82% to 400 tonnes.

Cement and flat glass prices have fallen since a slight increase in the first quarter. The average ex-work price of cement from building material enterprises was $43.06 per tonne, a drop of $1.45 from prices in May; and a drop of $5.80 (11%) from the price in June 2014. The average ex-work price for flat glass was $8.90 per weight box, a drop of $0.1 compared with the price in May; and a drop of $0.95 (9.7%) from June 2014.

China saw 11 new cement lines start up production during the first half of this year, with a total clinker production capacity of 12.55 million tonnes per year.
