Motiva, on October 20, shut down the 81,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Fluid Catalytic Cracker Unit (FCCU) 3, for mechanical repairs, at its 600,000-BBL/d refinery in Port Arthur, Texas. It is estimated that the unit may be shut down for about 30 days. The unit recently was shut down from October 6 to October 10 for unplanned mechanical repairs.

BP, in early November, will begin a three- to-four-week turnaround of the 102,000-BBL/d New Delayed Coker Unit at its 410,000-BBL/d Whiting, Indiana, refinery.

Pemex TRI, on October 16, restarted the 150,000-BBL/d Combinada Primaria 1 (Crude) at its 315,000-BBL/d Miguel Hidalgo (Tula De Allende), Mexico, refinery. The 165,000-BBL/d Combinada Primaria 2 (Crude 2) is being kept offline for repairs until late October. Process units had been forced to go offline on October 4 due to road closures.

International
Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), on October 21, restarted the 200,000-BBL/d Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) 4 (Unit 40) at its 346,000-BBL/d Mina Al Ahmadi Refinery in Kuwait. The unit was shut down on October 18 due to an explosion in the 33,000-BBL/d Atmospheric Residue Desulfurization (ARDS) Unit 1.

Banias Refinery Company (BRC) has rescheduled a 30-day plant-wide turnaround of the 131,000-BBL/d Banias Refinery in Syria, due to the unavailability of service providers. The turnaround now is expected to begin by November 15, with the restart expected by December 14. Eleven major units are included. The refinery has been operating at 75% capacity since April 10 due to a crude oil shortage.

Middle East Amreya Petroleum Refining Company (APRC) continues with a 30-day planned turnaround of four units, which began October 20, at its 77,000-BBL/d Amreya Refinery in Egypt. The restart is expected by November 18. Separately, APRC has rescheduled a 30-day planned turnaround of five units that was planned to begin November 10. The restart is tentatively expected to begin by March 10, 2022.
