Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking $7 billion in planned project completions in the U.S. Power Industry in third-quarter 2018. Thanks to some large natural gas-fired projects, the Northeast region leads in terms of project value, with more than $2 billion in planned completions, followed by the Mid-Atlantic region, with $1.46 billion.

Public Services Enterprise Group (NYSE:PEG) (PSEG) (Newark, New Jersey) leads with two large natural gas-fired projects in New Jersey and Maryland. In New Jersey, PSEG is wrapping up the addition of a 540-megawatt (MW) combined-cycle unit addition at its facility in Sewaren. Construction began in mid-2016, with Black & Veatch Incorporated (Overland Park, Kansas) providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC). The project has an estimated total investment value (TIV) of $650 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

In Brandywine, Maryland, PSEG is completing construction of its 755-MW Keys Energy Center. The plant will use Siemens equipment. Construction began in the third quarter of 2015. SNC-Lavalin Group Incorporated (TSX:SNC) (Montreal, Quebec) is providing EPC on the project, which has an estimated TIV of $850 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Renewables also feature in this quarter's project completions. In Oklahoma, Gestamp Wind North America (Houston, Texas) is putting the finishing touches on the 200-MW Persimmon Creek Windfarm. Construction on the project, which has an estimated TIV of $330 million, began late last year. Wanzek Construction Incorporated (West Fargo, North Dakota) is performing EPC. The facility is using 108 General Electric (NYSE:GE) (Boston, Massachusetts) 1.85-MW wind turbine-generators. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

In California, Consolidated Edison Incorporated (NYSE:ED) (New York, New York) is branching out into solar power with the construction of a 130-MW photovoltaic solar farm near Paicines, in the central portion of the state. Construction began in early 2016 and is expected to be completed this summer. The facility is being built on 4,700 acres. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Of course, power generation facilities couldn't operate without transmission infrastructure. One of the largest transmission projects to wrap up this summer belongs to Pioneer Transmission LLC, a joint venture of Duke Energy Corporation (NYSE:DUK) (Charlotte, North Carolina) and American Electric Power Company Incorporated (NYSE:AEP) in Indiana. The overhead, 765-kilovolt transmission line is Phase I of the project, representing 64 miles of a total 240 miles. The line will run from Duke's Greentown substation to its Reynolds substation. Construction began in early 2016. The project has an estimated TIV of $328 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Industrial Info recently released the Electric Transmission Line Asset Database, which provides information on operational assets and future transmission systems. Transmission lines and substations can be viewed based on geography, layout, ownership and kilovolt-rating and feature a number of other search tool attributes. Click here to learn more.
