Irish and French energy suppliers have signed a funding application for their first interconnect transmission line, known as the "Celtic Interconnector." This Interconnector will be a subsea high-voltage direct current transmission line, which will have the ability to import and export 700 megawatts of electricity between the two countries. The total investment value of the project is estimated to be around 1 billion euros.
