May 13, 2025--Written by Daniel Graeber for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The North American potential for liquefied natural gas (LNG) deliveries is on the rise, with the U.S. sanctioning new export facilities and Canada seeing support for deliveries from British Columbia. Cleaner-burning LNG emerged as an alternative fuel of choice in the wake of U.N.-backed measures governing emissions from the shipping industry and after the outbreak of war in Ukraine in 2022. Prior to the war, Russia was the main supplier of gas to Europe, though sanctions have since limited those options, leaving a void that's been filled largely by LNG shipped from U.S. shores.
