August 1, 2025--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--North Carolina's legislature has eliminated a requirement for the state's electric utilities to reduce carbon emissions by 70% by 2030. On Tuesday, the Republican-controlled North Carolina General Assembly overrode Governor Josh Stein's (D) veto of a bill eliminating the requirement. The new law also allows utilities to charge customers to finance future construction projects, among other provisions.
