Canada's Pembina Pipeline Expects Decision on Cedar LNG Project in June - Pembina Pipeline Corporation ( NYSE:PBA) (Calgary, Alberta) said on Thursday that progress on its proposed $4 billion Cedar project in British Columbia remains on track and a final investment decision is expected in June on what would be one of Canada's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminals. Cedar, a joint venture between indigenous community Haisla First Nation and Pembina, would produce 3.3 million tons of LNG per year after completion in 2028. Crescent Energy Expands Texas Reach with SilverBow Buy - Oil and gas producer Crescent Energy (NYSE:CRGY) (Houston, Texas) has agreed to buy rival SilverBow Resources (NYSE:SBOW) (Houston) for $2.1 billion, a deal which would create the second-largest operator in the Eagle Ford Basin in south Texas. The Crescent offer would result in Crescent shareholders owning between 69% and 79% of the combined company, depending on the ultimate cash component. Both sets of shareholders must vote to approve the transaction, which aims to close by the end of the third quarter. (Reuters)
Japan's JERA to Invest US$32 Billion in LNG, Renewables, New Fuels - Japan's top power utility JERA (Tokyo) said on Thursday it plans to invest 5 trillion yen (US$32.4 billion) over the coming decade into renewable energy and new fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia, as well as LNG. By fiscal year 2035, Japan's top LNG buyer is targeting more than 35 million metric tons in annual LNG transaction volumes, keeping the current levels. JERA also wants to boost renewable energy capacity to 20 gigawatts (GW) from 5 GW now, and handling volume of hydrogen and ammonia to 7 million tons from none now. (Reuters)
