GALWAY, IRELAND--September 19, 2013 --Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland) Italian steel and logistics giant, Riva Group (Milan, Italy), has shut down almost all of its operations in northern Italy and sent home more than 1,400 workers in protest against a court seizure of assets and wealth worth around 900 million ($1.2 billion). The family-owned company is embroiled in a long running legal battle, and is facing numerous investigations for fraud and fatal toxic pollution at its main plant in Taranto in southern Italy.
