Saudi Arabia Steps Up Renewable Energy Projects

The biggest development in this direction was setting up the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) in 2017, a strategic initiative under Vision 2030 and King Salman's Renewable Energy Initiative. Recently, the Kingdom gave approval for 3.3 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy projects. The capacity of wind is expected to be 1.8 GW, followed by solar with 1.5 GW.
