Vietnam's
steel industry is retaining normal operating levels, as various steel projects continue amid the COVID-19 outbreak in Southeast Asia. Formosa Steel Corporation's Ky Anh Integrated Steel Mill Complex, Vietnam's largest iron and steel producing complex, continues steel production, with in-plant maintenance scheduled in May through November, and capital projects remaining on schedule for 2020 to 2021.
Hoa Phat Group continues progress with its Dung Quat Integrated Steel Mill Complex project, with blast furnace 01 becoming operational this year; blast furnace 02 currently doing trial runs; and blast furnaces 03 and 04 starting up in 2020. Commissioning for the integrated steel complex's hot-rolled coil rolling mill however is delayed due to contractors from Italy being unable to go onsite for trial runs as a result of travel restrictions.
