The transportation systems sector leads the state in the value of these projects, mostly due to rail projects in the Seattle area.
Sound Transit (Seattle, Washington), which operates the public transit system in the Seattle area, has been busy the past few years. In 2016, the agency broke ground on its East Link light rail transit system extension. The project includes construction of 14 miles of track and 10 stations. Also underway is the Lynnwood Link extension project, which entails constructing 8.5 miles of track and four stations that will allow Sound Transit to carry about 50,000 passengers daily. Among the largest of these is Project Roxy, a five-story, grassroot fulfillment center being constructed in Arlington that will include 51 truck loading docks.
