TVA Issues RFP for Carbon-Free Energy
July 14, 2022--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--U.S. federally owned electric utility Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) (Knoxville, Tennessee) on Tuesday issued requests for proposals (RFPs) for up to 5,000 megawatts (MW) of carbon-free energy before 2029. The TVA is pushing to decarbonize its electric grid fully by 2050. Electric utilities across North America are issuing RFPs for renewable energy, including Tucson Electric Power (TEP) (Tucson, Arizona), a unit of Fortis Incorporated (NYSE:FTS) (St. Johns, Newfoundland); Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) (San Francisco, California), a unit of PG&E Corporation (NYSE:PCG) (San Francisco); and Quebec-based Hydro-Québec (Montreal), among others.
