U.S. Emissions Dropped Last Year, But Just Barely

June 2, 2025--Written by Daniel Graeber for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Federal U.S. data show the total amount of carbon dioxide emissions declined year-on-year to 2024, though notable decreases from the residential and industrial sectors led to only a 1% overall reduction. The burning of fossil fuels is the single-largest contributor to CO2 emissions and, since the industrial age, has led to warmer weather on average.
