U.S. LNG Export Volumes Tick Lower

May 19, 2025--Written by Daniel Graeber for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--U.S. exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) are somewhat subdued, even amid an uptick in total natural gas production, data show. The Energy Information Administration (EIA), the data arm of the U.S. Department of Energy, expects total natural gas production in the Lower 48 states to average 112.4 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d), supported by volumes from the Appalachia Basin. The U.S. is the world leader in natural gas production and liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, which emerged as a source of global energy security after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022 was met with sweeping sanctions on gas-rich Russia.
