Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 195,300-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Rheinland Godorf Refinery (North) located in Cologne, Germany, and owned and operated by Shell Deutschland Oil GmbH (Hamburg, Germany), will undergo a planned maintenance shutdown on several of its processing units in September 2009. Rheinland Godorf Refinery, which began production in 1957, is divided into three production areas: MMO (Maintenance, Manufacture, Operations), MMK (Maintenance, Manufacture, Conversion) and MME (Maintenance, Manufacture, Energy). The plant will be halting production on September 1, 2009, for 35 days to perform maintenance work on the MMO and MME areas. The Crude Distillation 1, Vacuum 1, Vacuum 2, HDS (Gasoil), HDS (Naphtha), Platformer, Thermal Gas Oil and the Bitumen Plant, among others, will come offline.
Additionally, managers are finalizing details to perform a planned shutdown in July 2012 on the MMK and MME areas. The turnaround will focus on general maintenance and cleaning of the Crude Distillation 1, Vacuum 3, Hydrocracker, the Vapor Recovery Unit, Claus and Blendings units.
