VAMCO-20 strengthened into a typhoon today; it is expected to be the third typhoon to hit the Philippines in recent days.
With maximum winds of 125 kilometers per hour (78 miles per hour), VAMCO-20 is expected to make landfall on the country's eastern coastline Wednesday evening, bringing torrential rainfall and storm surges. It is expected to exit the Philippines by early Thursday morning, from the western part of mainland Luzon.
The Philippine government has suspended schools and government work before the typhoon's arrival and issued evacuation orders for thousands of residents in coastal communities.
VAMCO-20 could affect approximately 95 industrial plants. Twenty-five power plants with 1,800 megawatts of installed capacity potentially are within the path of the typhoon.
Industrial Info's research teams continue to monitor the operating status of the industrial factories and power plants.
