Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Indonesia's PT Lotte Chemical is scheduled to begin construction soon on a petrochemical plant in the city of Cilegon, in the Banten province, with an estimated investment value of Rp60 trillion (US$3.9 billion). The development follows six years of delays.
The Lotte Chemical Indonesia New Ethylene (LINE) Project will feature Indonesia's first naphtha cracker in about 25 years. It is expected to start construction by late 2022 and to be completed by 2025.

The LINE Project will have a production capacity of nearly 2 million tons per year, including 520,000 tons of ethylene, 250,000 tons of propylene, among other derivative products. Currently, about 50% of Indonesia's petrochemical products are imported.
