Industrial Info is tracking $27 billion worth projects from Entergy, with about 75% of the spend attributed to natural gas.
The company recently provided an update on what will be its largest gas plant: construction of the roughly 1.2-gigawatt (GW), combined-cycle Orange County Advanced Power Station in Texas is now more than 80% complete and the overall project has reached 90% completion, putting the plant on track to begin generating power in the summer of 2026.
"This facility is a cornerstone of our strategy to modernize our infrastructure and provide reliable and more sustainable power," said Jim Malain, Entergy Texas customer service manager, in a press release.
Earlier this year, the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved the construction of Entergy's proposed 754-megawatt (MW), combined-cycle Legend power plant in Port Arthur and the 453-MW, simple-cycle Lone Star plant near Cleveland. Both plants are expected to go online in 2028.
For more information, see September 16, 2025, article - Texas PUC Greenlights 1,200 MW of Gas-Fired Projects.
All three plants would be fueled by a mix of natural gas and hydrogen.

However, this power won't be available for most of the state. Entergy Texas operates on the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) regional grid, separate from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid that covers approximately 90% of Texas' electric load and 75% of its land area. Entergy serves approximately 524,000 Texas customers across 27 counties.
The MISO grid includes all or portions of 15 states ranging from the Dakotas to the Gulf Coast, including a portion of eastern Texas. The MISO South district includes that portion of Texas as well as parts of Arkansas and Mississippi and all of Louisiana--the four states in which Entergy operates--and has limited connections and assistance from other regions in MISO's coverage.
The company recently provided updates on two projects serving the MISO area. Entergy Arkansas announced a $1 billion+ investment to build the 754-MW, combined-cycle Jefferson County Power Station in Redfield, Arkansas, pending approval from the Arkansas Public Service Commission.
In the company's third-quarter earnings call on October 29, Chief Executive Officer Drew Marsh said Entergy Mississippi's 754-MW Vicksburg Advanced Power Station broke ground. Industrial Info is tracking the project with completion date around the end of 2028.

Meanwhile, Louisiana state regulators have approved Entergy's construction of more than 2 GW of gas plants that are expected to serve what would be Meta Platforms Incorporated's (Menlo Park, California) largest data center. Chief Financial Officer Kimberly Fontan noted the company boosted its four-year capital spending plan by $1 billion, to $41 billion.
"To the extent that those customers in that pipeline reach agreement," Fontan said, "we would expect that you would need supplemental capital to support that, and that's what we planned ahead for here.
"Looking beyond 2025, we continue to see very strong growth driven by our customer-centric capital plan."
In addition, Marsh said the company has reached agreements to procure 4.5 GW worth "power island" equipment, including steam turbines, combustion turbines and heat recovery steam generators, representing six units that will be delivered in time to support commercial operations in 2031 to 2032.
