The bulk of the funding has been dedicated to advance projects for hydrogen production with carbon capture and storage (CCS), also called blue hydrogen, to commercial readiness.
The projects receiving funding from the U.K. government are H2H Saltend on Humberside, Net Zero Teesside, HyNet North West and the Northern Endurance Partnership, while the ACORN project has received funding from Scotland. This marks a major shift in the governmental position toward these emerging technologies since scrapping all funding in 2015.
