PIPELINES
Enbridge to Restart Closed Michigan Pipeline Section
- Enbridge (NYSE:ENB) intends to resume operations on a closed section of the Line 5 Pipeline in northern Michigan, after getting approvals from a federal agency and a Michigan judge. The approvals came from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and Ingham County Circuit Court Judge James Jamo. The decisions affect the east segment of Line 5 at the Straits of Mackinac that separate Michigan's Upper and Lower peninsulas. The lines had been shut down last June after concerns were raised about the east segment's anchor system. The western line was later allowed to resume operations. Line 5 carries 540,000 barrels of liquids per day from Superior, Wisconsin, to Sarnia, Ontario. (Pipeline 3506883) (Kallanish Energy)

PRODUCTION
U.S. Oil & Gas Rig Count Falls
- U.S. energy firms cut the number of oil and natural gas rigs operating for the first time in four weeks. Drillers cut two rigs in the week ending September 11, to 254. That was 632 rigs, or 71%, below this time last year. (Reuters)

STRATEGIC PETROLEUM RESERVE
Hurricane Damage at U.S. Reserve Site Limited to Support Infrastructure
- The U.S. Department of Energy said on Thursday that damage to a Strategic Petroleum Reserve site in Louisiana from Hurricane Laura was limited to fences, buildings and other support infrastructure. The West Hackberry, Louisiana, site, one of four of the reserve, was shut ahead of Laura and as of Friday remained without commercial power after the storm knocked out transmission lines. Infrastructure related to delivering oil to the market, such as oil caverns, pumps, pipes and valves, are "intact and in a safe idle condition," the department said in a release. (Reuters)
