Formosa Plastics shut down its 2,765 million-pound-per-year Ethylene Dichloride (EDC) production unit in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, due to Hurricane Ida. The restart is expected this weekend.
Bayport Polymers' new 2,205 million-pound-per-year Ethane Cracker in Port Arthur, Texas, is circulating feed to achieve on-spec product for the initial startup and ramping up of production. The new unit is expected to be operational by the end of September.
ExxonMobil, on August 30, shut down its Baton Rouge, Louisiana, chemicals plant, following Hurricane Ida. The 263 million-pound-per-year OLA-1X Ethylene unit will remain offline until feedstocks and third-party utilities become available. Additionally, the 1,000 million-pound-per-year OLA-2X and 1,075 million-pound-per-year ECLA-W Ethylene units will remain offline to complete a planned turnaround, which was originally scheduled to begin on September 15 and last approximately 70 to 80 days.

Haldia Petrochemical Limited, on August 31, restarted five units at its Haldia Complex in India. The units were forced to shut down on August 4 due to a fire at the naphtha cracker unit.
Dow Chemical Iberica SA remains on schedule for a planned 40-day maintenance turnaround and repair works on the 1,455 million-pound-per-year ethylene unit, to begin September 6, at its Tarragona Olefins (Dow Norte) Plant in Spain.
Ufaorgsintez PAO continues with a planned turnaround of the 110 million-pound-per-year Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) Unit 500-504 at its Ufa Chemical Complex in Russia. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by September 10.
