Talen Energy Corporation, today, October 12, was forced to take the 1,247-megawatt (MW) Susquehanna 02 unit offline at its Susquehanna Nuclear Power Station in Pennsylvania, after a main turbine trip caused the reactor to depressurize. The event is under investigation.
Exelon Generation Company LLC is down-powering the 1,166-MW Braidwood 02 Steam Turbine (ST) unit at its Braidwood Nuclear Power Station in Illinois in advance of a planned refueling starting October 18. The unit is running at 80%.
Duke Energy Carolinas LLC's 1,129-MW Catawba 01 unit at its Catawba Nuclear Power Station in South Carolina is coasting down in advance of a planned refueling starting October 16. The unit is running at 92%.
