Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In its 2021-2030 national electricity plan, Indonesia aims to increase the proportion of renewable power to at least 48%, compared with 30% in the 2019-2028 plan.

The national electricity supply plan (RUPTL) is a power supply guideline set by the government for state utility company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) for a 10-year period, which is revised annually. In the 2021-2030 RUPTL, the Indonesian government still gives priority to the development of fossil fuel power plants, with a 52% allocation, whereas new and renewable energy-based power plants will have 48% allocation. Indonesia plans to build power plants with a total capacity of up to 41,000 megawatts in the next 10 years, according to 2021-2030 RUPTL draft.

Rida Mulyana, the Energy Ministry's director general of electricity, said that the renewable portion will be bigger than in the previous RUPTL. To reach the planned renewable power guideline, diesel power plants are planned to be converted into renewable plants while gradually retiring older coal-fired power plants, to reach carbon neutrality by 2060.
