Steel Dynamics, JSW Projects to Boost Texas Steelmaking Capacity to 9.23 Million Tons per Year, an Industrial Info Market Brief
Plans by Steel Dynamics to open a 3 million-ton-per-year steel mill in Sinton, Texas, will be the eighth operational mill to make steel in Texas. The seven existing mills have a capacity of 5.73 million tons per year. The Steel Dynamics project, combined with a steel making expansion planned by JSW Steel in Baytown, Texas, will increase steelmaking capacity in Texas to 9.23 million tons per year when completed, and will represent about 8.5% of U.S. steelmaking capacity.
