A fire on Wednesday at ExxonMobil's Baytown, Texas, chemical complex forced the shutdown of the 2.6 billion-pound-per-year BOP ethylene unit at the site. The fire was in a tower in an area of the plant that contains polypropylene material. ExxonMobil's nearby 557,000-barrel-per-day Baytown Refinery remained operating despite the fire.
