Attachment Among the most lucrative aspects of the power sector that Mortenson has entered in the past few years is wind power. Industrial Info is tracking 19 wind projects involving the company. Among the largest of these is Xcel Energy Incorporated's (NASDAQ:XEL) (Minneapolis) Cheyenne Ridge wind energy project near Cheyenne Wells, Colorado. The 500-megawatt (MW) facility will use 229 wind turbines. Construction began last year and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Earlier this year in Saline County, Nebraska, Mortenson began construction on the 300-MW Milligan I Windfarm for EDF Renewables Energy (San Diego, California). The facility will use 150 2-MW turbines to generate 300 MW. Mortenson is providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) on the project, which has an estimated total investment value of $495 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Industrial Info also is tracking more than $1.7 billion in solar power projects involving Mortenson. Near Thornburg, Virginia, about 45 miles north of Richmond, Mortenson is underway with construction on AES Corporation's (NSYE:AES) (Arlington, Virginia) Highlander photovoltaic plant. The 165-MW facility will use a mix of First Solar (NASDAQ:FSLR) (Tempe, Arizona) and Jinko (NYSE:JKS) (Shanghai, China) solar modules on a single-axis tracking system. Construction began late last year and is expected to be completed by the end of third-quarter 2020. Mortenson is providing EPC, and Brent Scarbrough & Company Incorporated (Fayetteville, Georgia) is the civil contractor. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Another lucrative sector in which Mortenson is involved is data centers. In Eagle Mountain, Utah, Mortenson is underway with Facebook Incorporated's (NASDAQ:FB) (Menlo Park, California) grassroot data center. The 970,000-square-foot data center will consist of two one-story buildings connected in an H-shape configuration. The $750 million project kicked off in mid-2018 and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Mortenson is acting as construction manager and general contractor. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Among Mortenson's highest-value projects in the Industrial Manufacturing Industry is Sound Transit's (Seattle, Washington) Northgate light rail extension in Seattle. The $2.1 billion project entails extending the line 4.3 miles north from the University of Washington to the urban village of Northgate. The project requires two 3.6-mile twin-bored tunnels, two underground stations and an elevated station in Northgate. Construction began in 2014 and is expected to be completed in third-quarter 2021. Mortenson is the general contractor. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
