The government of Panama has ordered First Quantum to place the Cobre Panama copper mine on care and maintenance after the death of a contractor from COVID-19. Cobre Panama, one of the world's largest copper ore mines, has a nameplate capacity of 85 million tons per year. The mine started operations last year.
