Malaysian Smelter Lowers Production Level, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Malaysian smelters across the country continue lowering production level due to decreasing Chinese demand and disruption in the material supply chain caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Ferro-alloy smelter OM Materials (Sarawak) Sendirian Berhad has idled two of its 10 furnaces and has kicked off its annual maintenance prior to schedule as it grapples with a shortage in raw material.
Silicon smelter OCI Malaysia Sendirian Berhad has drastically lowered its operational levels to 30% and implemented government sanctioned health and safety measures on-site. Pertama Ferroalloy Sendirian Berhad's manganese-ferroalloy smelter has also lowered production level and is currently relying on existing raw material on-site to continue operation.
