Biomass Trend Ramps Up in China's Power Industry, an Industrial Info Market Brief
China plans to reduce the share of coal in its energy mix from 57% to 35% by 2040. The potential of converting biomass resources into energy is about 460 million tons of standard coal. It is estimated that by 2020, China's total installed capacity of biomass power generation will reach 15 million kilowatts, with an annual generating capacity of 90 billion kilowatts, including 7 million kilowatts of direct combustion power generation from agricultural and forestry biomass. Biomass power generation instead of coal or coal-fired coupled biomass power generation will gradually become a new trend in the power generation industry.
