Saudi Aramco and ExxonMobil's joint venture, SAMREF, plans to upgrade its refining facility in Saudi Arabia by further extracting valuable products from the heavy residue stream to enhance profit margins from processed crude. The company envisages a hydrogen addition technique and plans to add a new 55,000-BBL/d hydrocracking unit to process the desired residue in the presence of hydrogen. As of now, the project is in initial stages of study with the 46,000-ft3/d hydrogen unit planned, while other support units are still to be decided. Click here for a list of projects.
