Explosion Traps Miners in Gold Mine in Shandong, China, an Industrial Info Market Brief

An explosion has trapped 22 miners at a Hushan gold mine under construction in Hushan, Xicheng Town, in China's eastern Shandong Province. The explosion occurred Sunday. A damaged communication system prevented rescuers from reaching the miners, according to news accounts.
The project is currently listed as "on hold" due to the explosion. The underground mine was expected to produce 500,000 tons of gold ore per year, following its completion.
