Brazil's Empresa de Pesquisa Energetica (EPE), the technical branch of the Ministry of Mining and Energy, reported that 1,841 project proposals were submitted for the upcoming A-3 & A-4 power purchase agreement (PPA) auctions on June 26.
The projects represent 66.86 gigawatts (GW) of planned new-build capacity, including 700 wind projects (22.67 GW), 1,050 solar photovoltaic projects (41.8 GW) 30 biomass projects (1.4 GW) and 61 hydro projects (985 megawatts). The states of Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceara and Piaui make up 67% of the projects and 69% of the planned capacity.
