An influx of data centers into the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in Texas causes this sector's strong showing in the region for the upcoming quarter. Examples include CyrusOne LLC's (Dallas) Phase III data center expansion in Allen, about 25 miles northeast of Dallas. The project is part of a larger plan to construct a 1.4 million-square-foot complex. Phase III involves construction of a 412,800-square-foot building with four 60,000-square-foot data halls, along with office space and a loading dock. Structure Tone Incorporated (Dallas) is the general contractor on the project, which is expected to be completed in the second half of 2022. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Other data center projects in the area include Google parent company Alphabet Incorporated's (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (Mountainview, California) planned data center projects in Midlothian and Red Oak, both on the southern outskirts of Dallas. The Phase II building expansion in Midlothian is expected to be completed by the end of the year, followed by the grassroot Red Oak project in the summer of 2022. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the Midlothian and Red Oak projects.

In Fort Worth, Texas, Linear Labs Incorporated (Fort Worth) plans to begin a renovation project for an electric motor manufacturing plant. The 500,000-square-foot former airplane maintenance facility will have production machinery and supporting equipment to provide the manufacture and research and development of electric motors for the electric vehicles, HVAC and robotics sectors. Construction is set to kick off early in the upcoming in the quarter and be completed in first-quarter 2022. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Further south in Texas, the Port of Galveston plans to create a new cruise ship terminal (Terminal 3) by performing dock repairs at two of the piers and converting unused portions of piers into a new 200,000-square-foot cruise ship terminal to accommodate Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's (Miami, Florida) largest vessels. Jacobs Engineering Group Incorporated (NYSE:J) (Dallas) is the engineer on the estimated $100 million project, which is expected to wrap up in the fourth quarter of next year. Amazon.com Incorporated (NASDAQ:AMZN) has projects occurring in every U.S. market region, and the Southwest is no exception. In Mansfield, Texas, about 20 miles southeast of Fort Worth, Amazon has plans to construct a last-mile delivery station. The 219,000-square-foot facility will support regional sortation, delivery and distribution operations for the area. Construction is set to kick off early in the quarter and be completed later this year. PDMS Design Group Incorporated (Arlington, Texas) is the architect. Microgrids are becoming increasingly prevalent as facilities and municipalities seek to provide their own power to maintain reliability and move to cleaner forms of energy. The city of Stuttgart, Arkansas, is in on this trend, and Scenic Hill Solar LLC (Little Rock, Arkansas) plans to construct a 3.15-megawatt grassroot solar photovoltaic array using approximately 7,000 solar panels. The power will be provided to Stuttgart, about 65 miles southeast of Little Rock, through a power purchase agreement. Construction is expected to wrap up later this year or early next year.
