Indonesia aims to begin geothermal-energy development in Mount Tampomas, on West Java, sometime this year. Indonesia's Geological Agency estimates the area's geothermal resources can produce between 45 and 100 megawatts (MW).
Initially, the project was offered to PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy for further development, but was rescinded due to technical issues and budget constraints. Instead, Indonesia will continue to explore and conduct surveys before again offering it to companies for development.
