Bayport Polymers, a joint venture between Total and Borealis, continues commissioning of its new 2.2 billion-pound-per-year ethane cracker in Port Arthur, Texas. Commissioning and initial startup of the unit is expected to take place through late May.
LyondellBasell has completed a 14-day turnaround of the 414 million-pound-per-year Polypropylene Unit C, 413 million-pound-per-year Polypropylene Unit D and 413 million-pound-per-year Polypropylene Unit E at its Baytown, Texas, plant. The shutdowns took place in March.
JSP International de Mexico plans to implement a seven-day maintenance turnaround, in June, of the 110 million-pound-per-year polypropylene unit at its Toluca plant in Mexico.

Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Company has delayed the restart of the 3.2 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit at its Jubail Complex in Saudi Arabia due to additional needed repairs. The unit previously was planned to restart on April 15, but it is now expected to come online April 18. The unit has been under a planned shutdown since March 11.
BASF Antwerp is performing a furnace maintenance program on the 1.7 billion-pound-per-year Ethylene (G461) Unit at its Antwerp Chemical Complex in Belgium. The maintenance program kicked off in mid-April, and completion is scheduled for September 2021. Further furnace maintenance on the unit is scheduled to be performed from January to March 2022, and from July to September 2022.
Japan Polyethylene Corporation restarted the 110.2 million-pound-per-year linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) unit, today, April 15, at its Kawasaki Polyethylene Plant in Japan. The unit had been offline for planned mechanical repairs since March 7.
