Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Philippine government issued an alert along its eastern coast as Tropical Cyclone Surigae-21, locally known as Bising, intensified into a typhoon after entering Philippine waters Friday morning. Typhoon Surigae-21 is expected to intensify and is unlikely to make landfall, but the Philippine weather bureau cautioned that it will still bring winds and heavy rain to Eastern Visayas, affecting plants in the area, and may change its trajectory over the weekend. Surigae-21 is the second tropical system entering the region so far this year. The Philippines gets an average of 21 tropical cyclones each year.
