Turner has several projects at airports in some the U.S.' biggest cities, including Denver and Pittsburgh.
At the Denver International Airport, Turner, in a joint venture with Flatiron Construction Corporation (Broomfield, Colorado), is wrapping up construction on Concourse A West. The project entails expanding Concourse A westward by adding more than 530,000 square feet with 12 new gates and performing improvements to the apron pavement to alleviate aircraft and passenger bottlenecks. The project is set to be completed by the end of this year. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Industrial Manufacturing Project Database can click here for the detailed project report. The Concourse B East Gate also is being expanded, entailing the construction of seven new gates. Turner is providing general contracting for this project as well. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report. The Concourse B West Gate will have four new gates. Click here for the project report.
At the Pittsburgh International Airport in Pennsylvania, Turner is sharing construction management duties with other companies including AECOM (NYSE:ACM) (Los Angeles, California) and is responsible for the construction of a 3,000-space parking garage, a ground transportation center and rental car facilities. The project was paused because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but earlier this year, the airlines serving the airport agreed to fund $182 million in construction site prep work, allowing the project to begin. The work is expected to wrap up by the end of 2024. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Turner is involved in nearly $3.5 billion worth of data center projects. Among the largest of these is Facebook's expansion of its facility in Papillion, Nebraska. The estimated $1 billion project includes the construction of four data halls totaling more than 1.6 million square feet and bringing the total campus to 2.6 million square feet. The project kicked off in late 2018 and is expected to be completed in the first half of next year. According to U.S. News & World Report, the area around Facebook's data center, on the southern outskirts of Omaha, is home to several other data centers. Facebook already has plans to further expand this data center. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Turner also is at work on data center projects for Amazon.com Incorporated (NASDAQ:AMZN) (Seattle, Washington) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) (Redmond, Washington). Click here for a list of related projects.
In Prineville, Oregon, Turner is acting as general contractor on Apple's expansion of its data center. Two data halls encompassing 338,000 square feet will be constructed with supporting equipment and systems to serve as a data management site for 5G technology. Construction is set to kick off soon and be completed in the first half of next year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Laboratories for life sciences firms also feature largely in Turner's active projects. Among these projects is BioMed Realty Trust Incorporated's (San Diego, California) Dexter Yard facility in Seattle, Washington. Turner is the general contractor on the construction of a 14-story, 550,000-square-foot building, which will be leased to multiple life science and technology-related research and development firms.
