Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--With the Paris Climate Accord and its long-term energy transition in mind, India is working toward its ambitious target to add 175 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy to its power mix by 2022. According to India's Ministry of Power, renewable sources currently contribute 97 GW to its total installed base of 384 GW.
Determined to meet its goal, India plans to install 450 GW by 2030, of which more than 60% is expected to come from solar. The COVID-19 pandemic already has derailed progress, as have other issues such as delayed power purchase agreements and project awards; issues with the power grid infrastructure, and India's dependency on China for solar modules.
Industrial Info is tracking more than $110 billion worth of solar and wind power-generation projects in India. Subscribers to Industrial Info's project database can click here for a list.
