When organizations truly understand the risk of their operations and take proactive action, the risk of an incident is decreased. Measuring leading indicators of major hazard risk is a focus of API Recommended Practice 754 (API RP 754), which is an invaluable tool for players in the refining and petrochemical industries.
API RP 754 provides solid guidance on the leading and lagging indicators of process safety and monitoring. The ability to understand and take action on these leading indicators can reduce the risk of major incidents and safety events that represent lagging indicators. The American Petroleum Institute (API) published the third edition of API RP 754 in August.
Hexagon PPM is hosting a webinar on the advantages of API RP 754 on Wednesday, November 3, from 10 am to 11 am CDT. Click here to register.
Hexagon PPM is a division of Hexagon, a global leader in sensor, software and autonomous solutions.
Information offered in this webinar includes:
API RP 754 classifies process safety indicators into four tiers of leading and lagging indicators. Tiers 1 and 2 are suitable for nationwide public reporting, while Tiers 3 and 4 are intended for internal use at individual facilities, according to the API.
