Mortenson has achieved a hold in the renewable energy sector, and many of the 60 projects Industrial Info is tracking involving the company are for wind and solar facilities. Examples include the Fighting Jay Solar Plant in Fort Bend County, Texas, southwest of Houston. The facility, owned by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (Copenhagen, Denmark), will use 1 million solar cells to produce 350 megawatts (MW). Construction kicked off early last year and is expected to be concluded in the first half of this year. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Power Project Database can click here for the detailed report.

Mortenson's wind projects include the repower of EDP Renewables North America LLC's (Houston) Blue Canyon II Windfarm near Carnegie, Oklahoma. The project entails replacing 77 1.8-MW wind turbines with 69 2-MW turbines. Seven of the lower-capacity turbines will be left in place, bringing total generating capacity to 150.6 MW. Construction on the project kicked off last summer and is expected to wrap up in first-quarter 2022. Subscribers can click here for the project report.

Mortenson also is at work on few data center projects for Facebook Incorporated (NASDAQ:FB) (Menlo Park, California). Among the projects set to wrap up soon is Phase I of Project Ventus in De Kalb, Illinois. The grassroot project includes construction of two data center buildings totaling more than 970,000 square feet. Construction on the project kicked off in 2020. Industrial Info also is tracking more than $1.8 billion worth of pharmaceutical-biotech projects involving Mortenson, such as an addition and modernization project at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's poultry research facility in Athens, Georgia. In addition to the modernization of existing buildings, Mortenson is providing design-build work for the construction of five additional buildings totaling approximately 250,000 square feet that will include research labs, holding rooms and a hatchery as well as a new centralized utility plant to help provide scientific solutions to national and international exotic, emerging and endemic poultry diseases. Construction began in 2017 and is expected to end in 2023. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Pharmaceutical-Biotech Project Database can click here the detailed report.

In the company's home state of Minnesota, Mortenson is at work in Rochester on a project at the Mayo Clinic's (Rochester) Discovery Square Complex. The project, which is part of a larger redevelopment scheme, entails constructing approximately 125,000 square feet of space equipped for multiple companies to perform proprietary and contract research for the development of biomedicine, biotechnology and other technology-related disciplines. Construction kicked off in late 2020 and is expected to be completed later this year. Subscribers can click here to view the project report.
