U.S. Crude Oil, Gasoline Stocks Build - U.S. crude oil inventories rose by 2.4 million barrels in the week ending January 21 to 416.2 million barrels. Gasoline stocks rose by 1.3 million barrels last week to 247.9 million barrels, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said, the most since February 2021. Distillate stockpiles fell by 2.8 million barrels. (Reuters)

Using the world's largest laser, the researchers coaxed fusion fuel for the first time to heat itself beyond the heat they zapped into it, achieving a phenomenon called a burning plasma that marked a stride toward self-sustaining fusion energy.
