Chesapeake Energy's Profits Increase - Shale oil and gas producer Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NASDAQ:CHK) (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) said on Wednesday its quarterly adjusted profit rose 14.5% in the fourth quarter from the third, helped by a surge in energy prices. Chesapeake, which emerged from bankruptcy at the start of 2021, said its adjusted profit increased to $308 million in the quarter ending December 31, from $269 million in the third quarter. (Reuters)

U.S. Natural Gas Rises on Colder Weather Forecasts - U.S. natural gas futures rose nearly 3% on Wednesday on forecasts for cooler weather and higher heating demand over the next two weeks than previously expected. March gas futures gained 12.5 cents, or 2.8%, to settle at $4.623 per million British thermal units. (Reuters)
